This is a beautiful thing to write a story in person with a friend. Unfortunately it seems to be a rare thing these days with writing synonymous with being a solitude hobby. I love the sound of that story too btw!

I love this! I used to do this with friends when we were younger, but bringing it back as an adult would be such a delight. I would totally read Heartpooned, sounds bloody hilarious!

YES! I feel like I used to co-write a lot as a kid too. I think writing that was as an adult brings back some of that nostalgia.

Doooooo it, I absolutely LOVE writing with my bestie so we can expound on diverse ideas and concepts together... that's something writing solo can't always give you!

“A cook named Cook and a cat named Greg” SIGN ME UP😂 Also, I’ve co-written with another writer before and have to agree that there’s something nice about balancing tasks out and letting someone just take a chapter and put their own spin on it. Also those writing calls would last for hours on end sometimes sitting in silence and typing, other times chatting animatedly about new ideas. Love this for you!

If I’m gonna do anything, it’s find a silly name. Yes!! Writing gatherings are the best, whether you’re chatting or typing away.

This, writing club and book club... these bring me so much joy as a paid reviewer. I've already written my reviews before I go in, but hearing diverse voices, perspectives, and new questions to consider... so inspiring. It truly makes for a wonderful evening when I go home to write with my small group of friends and debate topics.

I used to have a couple of writing partners and it was the most fun I’ve had in my life🤩 When my main writing partner and I split I didn’t write for a long time, but now I’m back at it🥳 It would be amazing to write with someone again, but I’m not sure if I could do. Good luck to you tho, and I would definitely read Heartpooned😂😂

First of all, writing a book with your friends sounds AMAZING. The description also sounds fantastic and I'm excited to see it come to fruition. Second of all. The DC Beltway is a bitch, and I too hate driving on it. My in-laws live in Maryland and whenever we visit we usually head down to DC for a day trip. The commute is the worst. Third, I appreciated this article, and I'm glad I'm not alone in postponing grocery shopping unless I can do it with someone else. Because same. 😂

Going to the store alone is a CHORE going with friends is an OUTING, an ACTIVITY. 😂 also I’m glad someone else relates to the pain that is driving on the dc beltway.

I used to write with a friend as a teen and it gave me so much life and inspiration. I am a verbal processor and I think I create much the same way, I need someone to bounce things off of. Much harder to achieve in adulthood but I long for that sort of creative collaboration!

I’m a verbal processor too! I always need to talk things out to understand them and work through the writing process.

“My social calendar would make an introvert shit their pants (probably).” I am said introvert😭 mostly because I did do this with a group of friends that I made online and we ended up falling out. I love the concept of writing partners, but my main issue is that I’m a massive micromanager

That’s so valid! A huge part of writing with others is giving up control, which is really really difficult. You really need to have an exact personality match with your writing buddies. Mine and I have been friends since elementary school, which I think is a huge reason why we write together so well!

I adore this! I often collaborate with friends and other creators... it's my life mission as someone who served on the board of a makerspace before leaving for Canada, where I recently married my weirdo fellow co-writer after we had been engaged for years long distance!

COLLABORATION IS THE GREATEST OF ALL COMPETITIONS! can't wait for your book to be ready ❤️ I'm always in such need of more books to rec at the libraries and book clubs for students 😀

Thank you! It really is, it keeps creators from burnout all too often, and that keeps art and science, music, etc going! What would we even DO if not for diverse voices who collaborate? It would be so boring a world...
