Hello, family. Another month has gone by in this absolute shit show of a year, which means it’s time for me to reveal all the things that I have been making.
Let’s begin by seeing how my “Upcoming Stuff I Plan on Making in February” list turned out;
Finishing that goddamn blanket maybe idk ?????? I did not do this.
Cute Valentine doodles (the Valentine’s Day aesthetic is simply unmatched in my eyes) I did not do this. Well. Maybe I kind of did it. I made this drawing for my Valentine’s Day Post . But I definitely did not do this in the way that I thought I would (many cute drawings, etc etc.)
Working through some Woobles kits because I have an embarrassing amount of them Ok I actually did do this and I am now like 90% done with two kits. I also helped teach my friends how to crochet via Woobles so that feels like it should be extra credit.
Getting caught up on my scrapbook pages I did not do this.
More diary comics and experiments with digital doodles I did do this !!!!! I published two of them (Workout Diaries 1 and Workout Diaries 2), many are works in progress.
Starting a cardigan?? (I told myself I wouldn’t do this until I finished my blanket but we’ll see) I did not do this. I do not know why January Brooke thought that I would do this.
Figuring out the mystery that is a Knitting Loom I did not do this.
Chugging away my writing outline for Year One, the book I’m slowly but surely writing I DID DO THIS AND I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT IT THAT I AM WRITING IN ALL CAPS.
I made other things though, let’s talk about them.
I made, oh my god, a lot of fucking vet appointments.
For those unaware, I have four cats, and three of them have various illnesses. Usually, my sick cats take turns deciding who will be the problem child of our sick cat household, but this month Juniper and Oats decided to tag team. UTIs, ruptured cysts (DISGUSTING), glucose levels dropping and spiking and dropping again, pee where pee should not be (literally, why), $4,000 quotes for surgeries, and trips to the Emergency Vet — we are all having a great time.
One of the things on my “To Write List” is to write about my experience caring for chronically ill cats, especially my diabetic cat, Juniper. It’s a side of pet ownership that I never realized would be so prevalent and intense. But at the same time, there’s so much joy in loving them.
I made a postcard, and I sent it to Alix <3
The internet is a fun place, because you can become friends with people that you’ve never met in real life. The less than fun part is that sometimes you make friends with people who live across the country, the silver lining of that part is that you can be PEN PALS!
Alix, from you can call me al , and I started our pen pal journey, and she sent me such a sweet note and some leftover stickers from her birthday party. Receiving and sending mail is one of the precious joys in my life. In a world of instant messaging, bring back snail mail.
I made some ideas for Orange Cat Craft Camp 2025
My best friends from college and I hosted a craft camp for each other last year, and we’re making it a yearly tradition! To summarize the experience: we bring crafting materials, hang out for a week, and teach each other little craftivities. I designed a T-Shirt logo for us last year, and I’m doing the same this year. We’re leaning into the summer camp theming so I’m thinking something with a felt pennant or a patch vibe.
Making Goals For March
2 or 3 new diary comics finished and ready to post
Final design for the Orange Cat Craft Camp logo
Creating more postcards to mail out
Writing a few chapters of my book
Getting in some good scrapbooking time
Finish…..that blanket….?
Another livestream on Substack! I would love to host substacks with other users where we make a craft (I prefer to not show my face on a live) and I interview you about things you like to make. If there’s anyone out there interested in something like that let me knoooooow.
Those happy contented cat faces! Good work, you. 😻
