Just keep thugging it out chief, it took me a full year to get any enjoyment out of running, now I do it on a level approaching psychosis

If there’s anything to strengthen your will and resolve it’s this

I’m hoping to find the psychosis level 😂 I see it in my husband everyday!

My husband rans marathons too! The kind of marathon I enjoy is the one of going from cafè to cafè while spectating my husband and his friends running 😂

Kudos for joining the 10k and all the best!

I'm sorry I can't be encouraging either about the running, but the writing was excellent and again made me laugh out loud and nod my head in agreement. I don't run; I don't even walk. How about borrowing my powered wheelchair.. oh, I don't think it has battery-power for a 10K all in one go. How about borrowing my disability instead? Honestly, it's the perfect excuse for being unable to do anything! 👍🏼

Looks like it’s time to invent battery powered wheelchair races !!

I also would love to be "a person that runs" but alas my aversion is strong. I cannot imagine having an additional mental block to that. I remember in high school we had a timed mile for soccer try-outs and I was so determined not to be seen as a hindrance that I ran an 8 minute mile...I do not run...ever. So our coach was impressed that I beat out some of the defenders on my team (I was a goalkeeper...again, no running). I applaud you for your audacity. Remember, have the confidence of a mediocre white man. You can do it! If you don't think you can, do it out of spite :P

I love how you ran an 8 minute mile fueled by determination to not hinder anyone. 😂 that’s incredible! I soooo need to remember to have the confidence of a mediocre white man.

I’m sorry😭 I wish I had words of encouragement, but I don’t run either😂 I do walk 5km and 10km frequently, but running is terrible for those of us with chronic inflammation. You can still be a cool girl and listen to audiobooks while you walk though!

I praise your regular walking!! I should have considered that 😂

Oh, Brooke! This is too relatable. Outside of grief, running outside probably IS the worst thing that can happen to you.

I’m not good at running either (knee impact + asthma), but at least running outdoors is a much better way to prepare you for a 10k than running on a treadmill! Even if a volunteer kicks you out, I hope you’re proud of yourself for giving it a go :)

As someone who's also pathetically bad at running, I appreciate this. I only do it because it's free and I have to exercise somehow lol I've been running (on and off) for like 5 years and still can't do more than 6k, often pause for walking or stretching and sometimes I count down the minutes to when I can stop. It always feels just a little humiliating when all the other runners zoom past me, but I did learn to appreciate the fresh air and birdsong...
