When I was a kid I told my mom “oh Hilary Duff LOVES this game” so she offered to buy it for me. I turned it down because “it’s rated T for teens and I’m not a teen yet”. Thankfully got it a few years later 😂
Yesssss!! Did you also do survivor houses where you’d pack a house with the most batshit crazy extreme characters and then take away doors/stairs out do the pool/etc and see who lasts the longest? But yeah I also loved this game and the concept of a friendship and social needs as a visual bar is something I mentally do to this day…
Oh my gosh of course, playing survivor is a quintessential part of the game!! In retrospect, very glad my mom didn’t actually see what I was up to playing the game 😂
Love this! Me and my friends did something similar. I had that one friend who had every expansion pack and her “own” computer to play on. We would stay up way too late at sleepovers creating mayhem. Mostly character creation took us forever. I have an older brother who loved video games and a father who ran a small business so the computer at our house was rarely available. But when I got my laptop for college…ooo baby did I clock hours on the sims. Reading this made me want to play again.
Also you sound like you were a dangerously smart 10 year old. Your poor mother. Ahahaha
As a condiment that currently has James Turner on right now they loved this. Mustard and their better half enjoy watching Let’s Plays and watching those stories unfold.
They did not grow up with The Sims (knew of it but never played it) but loved how the game has brought you joy throughout the years.
Okay I literally remember being at Target around the age of 12 begging my mom for The Sims (I can’t remember if I played 2 or 3 tbh) and her being all “is ‘woohoo’ just sex?” and me being like “okay yeah but it’s, like, hidden I promise.” Our negotiation tactics may be weak but they are effective 😂
Me: [takes a break from playing sims to read this post] I constantly lament about the loss of the open world concept! Having to sit through a loading screen just to go to a neighbor’s house is ridiculous.
Loved this glimpse into your journey with the sims. It really has had a lasting impact, and it’s nice to sort of allow ourselves as adults to relish in the things we enjoyed as children. This was a great reminder in finding small moments of joy and excitement even in the midst of difficult circumstances. Thanks for sharing!

Omg so true, especially for the social bar!

There’s just something about a Sims sleepover that hit different back in the day!!
You should 100% play again, it continues to be incredible.
And I’m not sure I was smart, but I sure was manipulative 😂
HAHA I FORGOT ABOUT MERMAID LIAM HEMSWORTH
Also I KNOW we made a sims 2 reality tv show on YouTube called Monsters In a House and I’ve been trying to track it down for YEARS
HOW COULD YOU FORGET?
I would give so much to watch those videos one more time

Let’s plays are the best!! I’m glad you and your partner enjoy watching them in the fridge condiment drawer.

😂 oh my gosh! I also remember being soooooo scandalized by the woohoo cut scene in the sims 2!

Honored that you took a break from your game to read this!!!
Don’t even get me STARTEEEEED on the loss of open worlds. The loading screen to visit different apartments drives me BONKERS
Thank you so much for commenting ♥️
Omg the apartments is even worse! Cause we’re in the same building, what do you mean I can’t just knock and waltz in?!😂
